  • manual boost controller install

I've looked at the instructions and also searched this board and it seems like there are a couple of ways to hook this up.

Wouldn't you just disconnect the factory boost controller and hook those two lines into the new boost controller?

Some of the instructions say to block off one of the T fittings and some other things. Is this true?

I can tell you from experience..I followed the directions and installed mine as they say and it was ok. Then for the hek of it I put all the vac lines back to OEM routing and just removed the factory controller and put the MBC in it's place...me and a buddy both picked up a ton of low end torque by keeping the stock routing and just replacing the boost controller. we could tell a difference just pulling out of the driveway.

So just take the two hoses out of the Factory Controller and put them on the manual one, right?

yeah, that's what I did on mine.. made a world of difference compared to all the other methods I've tried. you'll still have to play with it to get the exact amount you want of course. Mine is easy, I run at 10psi.

Yeah I did just that and have the screw tightened all the way down and it will not boost over 10.

This post needs to clarify what type of MBC you have. A bleeder valve type will work as BrianO describes, but a pop-off valve type MBC will not. You will need to cap off the barb on the tee that goes to the BC and the inlet to the compressor housing. Then run the bottom tee to your MBC and from there to the wastegate.

PS. Don't forget to untighten your MBC or you could pop a HG.

I have the Joe P Ball and Spring boost controller. Tomorrow or Thursday I will try to go from the wastegate actuator directly to the MBC and block off the outlet of that T. Then remove the other T and put in a single outlet directly to the MBC.

Anyone know what threads are on that T I need to remove?

is that the one from forced4, the lower priced one? if so that's the exact one I have and I just put it inline as I mentioned. going straight to the actuator lost torque in my case and my buddies.

The "T" on the compressor housing is 1/8" NPT. You can get a 90* elbow from ATPTurbo.

I re-did the plumbing on my MBC tonight and now I have it boosting up to 17. Ran one line from the wastegate actuator and then one from the turbo housing. Then I plugged one side of each of the two Tees. See this thread as it has some pictures that SVOBUD posted and those pictures are how I did this.

                        Thanks all for the help.
