  • Turbo coupe turbo?

Once again sorting through my parts score. Think is have a turbo and manifold off of an t-bird. The turbo says IHI on it and it's an E6 manifold. Would this be a good spooling turbo for autox? Or a waste of time?

it's smaller than the SVO one and will spool faster, but from what I read and heard anything over 15psi on those IHI's and they will self destruct. keep the E6 manifold though.

The E6 looks just like the manifold off my 84. Is it bigger on the inside or something?

all the SVO's had E3's and the t-birds had E6's.. I think there's a little bit larger ports, but not sure. I have one sitting here, but never compared it. I think the turbo footprint is larger.. there are tons of threads with pictures on here if you have time to dig around a bit.

Keep the E6- it's much less prone to cracking than the E3. That's the biggest advantage between the two.

The 87-88 T-Birds had the E6, and it can crack as well(just not as easily as the E3), so just look it over good before you swap it out with your E3.

Some guys will port the E6 and that's probably not a bad idea to help the flow.
