  • leaky schrader valve on fuel rail

My shcrader valve on the fuel rail is leaking --

I was going to pick up one, but I'm not sure that the standard valve (such as a tire valve) would not detoriate with gasoline on it.

I did see that they have the ones rated for Air-Conditioning, and I was wondering if anyone knows if these will stand up to gasoline?

    Shrader valve

I have some 134 valves and as I remember they are larger than the one you need. R12 valves may be the same but there's no substitute better than the correct part.

My buddy who is a mechanic at the local ford dealership says that there is a service pack that the mechanics get to repair bad nylon fuel lines which includes the shrader valve components.

He also has mentioned to me that if he runs out of the part he needs while doing a repair, he runs up the street for a NAPA fuel line repair packet or uses A/C components.

I think turbizzy posted in the tech area this week regarding A/C O-ring compatability. There was a good link there that went into the issue.

Hey I have an idea! If you're out on a JY run for LA3's, take along a valve stem tool. Or maybe if you have one of those fuel pressure tester kits you can borrow the valve core out of one of the lines until you can get the proper replacement.

And Eric don't forget to put teflon tape or some sort of sealant on the threads when you thread it in... it's eqivalent to a 1/16th NPT and threaded as such. If you don't wanna spend the six bucks on a new one, you could always spend 189.95 on an electric AutoMeter fuel pressure guage like I did

          tape ???

the threads is not what makes the seal on those. I can't see that it would help.... the o-ring seats in the ruel rail.

I would like to have one of those fancy gauges.. it just ain't in the budget right now..
