  • Safe boost levels for my setup?

I just ordered a MBC and I'm not sire what level my car will be safe at. I know Its at about 12 PSI with the premium switch selected right now, so I figgure thats what I'll set it at, but will it be safe to go a bit higher? I'm only wondering because my car has the LX front clip and hood so my intercooler basically doesnt do anything. I took it off yesterday right after I drove around for a while and the intercooler was quite hot. In the next day or two im doing a fresh tune up with all motorcraft parts. Everything else is pretty much stock except the K&N filter.

    1. Stock boost gauges are not all that accurate. Stock levels were 14 (84/85) and 15 psi (85.5/86)
    2. If you're still running the 30 lb injectors - I wouldnt go higher than 17/18lbs ...
    3. The intercooler works even without the stock cut out in the hood - put it back on.
    4. Continue to run premium fuel - and slowly increase boost levels til you hear some 'rattling' (detonation) - then back it down a psi or two. You'll be able to run higher levels in the winter than summer because of ambient temps.

Ok sweet. Thanks for the good info! When I get the boost controller in the mail I'll mess with it and see what I come up with.
