  • need help!

i did the fuel injector swap today.

    i ran into two problems:

    1. i cracked the upper intake flange off screwing the EGR valve back on. you can see this in the pictures. i don't know what happened, but obviously i can't screw back on the egr valve. i imagine i'm going to have to fabricate an egr block off plate using some sheet metal and heat resistant tape. ....sigh

    2. i can't figure out what this hose connects to. it's possible it was already disconnected, wouldn't surprise me if the P.O. took it off and left it. but yea... does anyone know where it goes?

    thanks!

IS that a hose or a wire????

Looks like the sending unit wire from the oil pressure or water temp! (can't see color)

    Mark

P.S. How did you brake the manifold?? (didn't take the EGR pipe off? -before "prying" out of the way?)

check the classifieds or ebay for an intake..
as for the connector.. looks like the oil level sender wire or the temp gauge wire..they are both on that side.

I cracked it screwing the bolt on that connects the egr valve. I definitely don't wanna put on a new upper intake just to make the egr valve connect, just gonna fabricate a block off plate

You couldn't get the nut on the compression fitting broke free huh? Man that sucks! I musta gotten lucky today when I pulled mine off. I'm gonna take a SWAG and figure the wire is for the oil pressure. It literally drops down right behind #4 injector and hooks up.

pretty sure that wire is for temperature gauge. got it running with the egr block off plate, pep boys had a leaf spring clamp that fits perfectly

just finishing up the computer now, need to figure out where the boost control module is on my 84

disconnected the boost control module (it's the three wire connector, right?)

where exactly is the knock sensor on an 84?

                  thanks
