  • How To? Remove WGA.

Is there a "not so brutal" way to R&R the WGA? Looks impossible from the top unless I remove most everything which I'm thinkin not. I think I've looked at every thread regarding wastegates and haven't run across this so forgive me if I'm asking a redundant question.

I found one locally (WGA) so I'll pick it up Saturday.

    Jesus clip

Just make sure to hang a cheater wire on the WGA "E" clip before removing it. They are the most often lost items since the beginning of the industrial revolution.

Quite often, it is easier to put the car on jackstands and work on it from underneath. Then the most often lost items fall on your shirt and can be more easily retrieved.

For me it's easier just to remove the manifold/turbo assembly, but then again I've removed a bunch of things so it's easier to get to bolts.

As Pat said, put it on jack stands plus remove the starter. You'll have easy access with the starter out of the way. Don't forget to disconnect the battery.
