I'm chasing a problem I thought was a blown head gasket, but I don't think that's the case, so I verified timing, TPS, and fuel pressure, then went to pull codes.
50 dollar Actron Scanner, I've used it before just fine. KOEO test shows a code 11, but KOER test is fubar.
There is a switch on the scanner, it has a hold position and a test position. Start the car with the switch on hold, then when I move it to test, engine RPM increase to around 2200 for 15 or so seconds, something I have not noticed before.
Engine RPM comes back down, the light blinks twice for the Engine ID. About 6 to 20 seconds after that the light should blink once for me to do the "mash the accelerator to the floor test", but it doe not. Instead, the light comes on & stays on. The included instruction book does not mention this scenario.
Any ideas where to start looking for why I can't get KOER codes? Buy a new scanner, swap out PE's, or is this going to be one of those hard to figure out problems?
Thanks in advance,
James
