its not a matter of doing it 'right' the first time, its a matter of hoping other stuff doesnt break along the way. thats why its fun!

I bought a 30k SVO and throught the same thing. Make careful changes and keep it reliable. Unfortunately it hasn't always worked out that way. So, if I were doing it again it would go in somewhat the following order, one at a time where possible.

      1. Attend the reunion next week. You'll learn more in a day...
      2. Upgrade the alternator/associated wiring (Pat, PA Perf, etc)
      3. Tune up with Motorcraft parts (Forced4)
      4. Install a wideband O2/Guage
      5. New intake (Forced4 kit or just a cone)
      6. Boost Controller (ProfecB or Gillis/manual valve)
      7. Adjustable FPR
      8. Computer/injector/wiring upgrade
      9. Boport head/cam fully assembled
      10. Adjustable cam gear (Race Eng or Eslinger)
      11. Keep the inline intake and have it Extrude Honed
      12. Bob's log or extrude hone and ported E6
      13. Front mount, air/air or air/water. Buy a good core, not ebay special.
      14. Upgraded turbo using the stock compressor housing (Evergreen)
      15. 3" elbow and downpipe with flex joint. 3" over the axle as well to a good muffler and stock tip.
      16. Sportsman or billet rods and good bolts (Boport)
      17. Subframe connectors
      18. 8.8 rear
      19. 11" clutch and associated components

The stock 86 computer will keep up ok until you get over 250-270ish rwhp. Some say more but if you do the injector math it doesn't work out well. In your case (84) it's more of a priority.
      86 SVO 1E, not stock. MM&FF May 2010
2012 Mustang GT, also not stock.

Just make it more reliable with tasteful upgrades. These cars run well in stock trim, and taking advantage of upgraded turbos and better exhaust can really wake the car up. I'm hoping to pick up some performance on our 86 with some intake and exhaust mods, as well as adding some lightness. I'm not working for a HP goal, though, just to make the car more fun to drive.

The Svo I might be getting is a bone stock 84 w/30K original "old lady" miles
its not been beat on, But again it a old car.
So first thing will be to go over the whole car and see what it needs
With the 86 I had I did more error then trial to it and I'm not following that path on this car.
I will put alot of effort into reading the tech on here and asking question before I threw any parts at it. I like to do it right the first time.

ok today, I seen it.the 1984 Svo it was in such good of condition it was hard to believe. one i know it was repainted but i can over look that but the inside wow it even smelled like the 80's. shifter and steering wheel dash looked perfect even the driver seat didn't have the normal in and out side bluster wear. I was so all struck by its condition that i didn't look at the things i set out to make sure i knew would be wrong with a car that old.
              I need help guys lol.
I know for a fact this guy isn't a SVO enthusiast because all he knew was the facts, I think he might be a car salesman in training, He even had to take a sec to remember how to open the hood.
Is it just wrong that i remembered how to open it. LOL I can say that my hand had a memory of how to open it.
i can tell you guys the only things done to it was a flowmaster muffler and 134A conversion, that's it.
Its bad i was trying to find flaws in this car just to bring the price down to what i could afford. lol is that wrong?
Look if it was a person that loved this car ! I would try my dam est to earn the money. but i know this guy bought this car off an old lady that owned it since new. why do i think that because he kinda let it slip.
              its worth no dought what he is asking. but i under bid it because I know he is trying to make a buck off this car;

I ask this question if you are a true believer in the svo would you do the same,

Guys i just need to know if im doing the right thing?
I can tell you the ONLY issue other then its cleanness is the sunroof is the only problem and it leaks right where the seal starts, "easy fix"
              HELP HELP HELP HELP
              What do i Do ?????????????????????

meh, doesnt matter where/how/when the seller got it, its on the market now for what he wants. see if he'll play the negotiation game, and if not, reevaluate your budget. if that doesn't pan out, then you get to play the waiting game.
