He probably can't get 93. 91 is the highest I can get locally at a normal gas station.

THE HIGHEST OCTANE I CAN BUY HERE IS 91 SO I WANTED TO BUY SOME KIND OF ADDITIVE. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHO USES WHAT AND HOW THEY LIKE IT?

ok -- can someone explain to me why they can't buy 93 ???

is it a political/enviromental thing, or what ?

I can pull into any gas station in town and get 93... (however, some 93 is CERTAINLY better than others)

I wish I could get a octane tester, so I could go ask the mom and pop shop down the road why their 93 octane tests out at 87 ---

Do they live in remote areas or something? The Sunocos around me pump 94 octane.

              Octane Boost

I run a 50/50 mix of 91 and 114. I buy 55 gallon drums and mix at home. It's kind of expensive, $3.25 per gallon, but it sure works good. For a daily driver, this probably is too expensive.
If you are looking for a daily driver boost - do a search - I think Mike Flemming has some special formulas that may prove to be cheaper.

                Cigars Anyone??

                lol...
                and mix at home. .
I guess you have to be carefull when you're doing the yard.....I like to light a good cigar from time to time....:p

True a daily driver would be expensive, BUT at 20+ mpg: it takes me a while to burn a tank of gas stretching the SVO's "legs" every now & then......

Ok, The guy from the west coast of Canada, now living on the East Coast of the United States gets to answer this one. But be warned, I'm answering with my experience in traveles, not with known facts.

From what I can tell in my travels back and forth, 93-94 octane is sold on the east coast. I'm not sure where the split is, but in Seattle and Vancouver and throughout B.C, Alberta and Saskatchewan 91 is the highest you can get. I do believe through North and South Dakota it's still 91 and does not change to 94 till you get to Chicago at least. I could be wrong, it may be as far as PA before 94 can be had (Keep in mind 93 is prevalent here in NY-94 is available but scarce. The mystery still on the table is why does this trend exist... and how far south does this trend go? Does Cali have 91 or 94, and how about Florida?

I don't buy the originated thing here in NY, and the gas here is so full of detergents I'm surprised I don't see freakin bubble coming out of my pipes sometimes. I also don't buy this being an adjustment for climate or elevation - especially if it does span the entire coast to Florida. I think it’s pure greed.

                  Z.

                        Octane

You can find 93 all over Michigan and 94 at all Sunoco's thruoughout Michigan. I ran 94 all the time and had not detectable detonation at 18-19 lbs of boost. When I ran 20lbs of boost on rela hot days I could hear some detonation. I always rand 94 and some 100+ octane unleaded when at the dragstrip (Milan Dragway).

Go to Walmart for best price on boost

I use the +104 in the black bottle mixed with Amoco 93 octane. I found it to give good driving results with only a slight tinting on the plugs. I also use it when it comes time for emissions in all my vehicles ( including the truck ) with an oil change and fresh plugs it's like blowing air out the tailpipe. I'll also use it in the truck when towing the trailer on long trips. The only thing that came up once is my convert seemed to run a little hotter down in Florida. The temp outside was only about 50 degrees though ( March in Pensacola for the MCA National ). Walmart has the best price over places like Autozone, Pepboys, etc. I usually just buy out their stock on the shelf. There is also a "Kangaroo" ( that's the name ) gas station near Road Atlanta that sells about a 118 octane that I will fill my 5 gal. and 3 gal. cans when I fill the tank in my Frankenstein car for open track days at Road A.

Gary -- I am just trying to figure out why you can't get 93 - 94 octane...

and please -- lay off the caps

If it's some stupid law, I thought maybe we could start some "write your congressman" campaign or somethig -- if them guys get enough letters, MAYBE they would do something ??

I say it this way because, IMHO, higher octane gas is much better than any additive you can put in..

BTW:: One AAMCO station here in town, their 93 ALWAYS runs best ---

I was thinking it was either a weather thing, or an emissions thing, but I don't know details. I have heard both of these theories.
