  • Boost Valve Installation

I am thinking of installing a Ric Gillis Boost Valve. Can anyone explain in as much detail as possible how it's installed on an 84 SVO?

    Thanks

yea.. it is pretty simple, only 2 hoses...if you get them backwards, you get to see if the boost buzzer works

I have just received the Ric Gillis booster valve. I understand that one hose goes to the wastegate actuator and the other goes to the vacuum tree. The hole in the turbo compressor is plugged and the hole in the turbo inlet is capped. My question is...........Where is the vacuum tree? What is around it? Is this the proper installation?

I haven't installed a gills valve, but .. there should be no major difference in it, and the stock boost controler (other than the obvious)

The 2 hoses that were on the stock boost controler should be the 2 hoses you need to put on the gills valve..

I dont think you should have to tap a new source of vacume ??

            Eric,

Thats what I thought to, but the directions say different. Hopefully I will get a response from someone who has installed the Gillis valve. Thanks

ok.. I haven't looked at the stock boost controler setup in about 2 years... and I just realised, it is completly different than I thought it was....

this is where the vacume tree is... there should be one capped off, unless it has been used for something like cruise control...

Thanks for the picture......I will check for it tonight. I don't have cruise control, so I should be all set......I hope.

                  Brian,
Did you get your valve installed?
I installed the Gillis valve in my car last night.
I'd be happy to help if you're still having probs.

                    140cilx,

Maybe just for future reference, could you take a picture of how you installed it (ie:location of valve, routing of hoses, etc.) and post it here?

That would be a great refernce for anyone who has the problem in the future...

                    Thanks, in advance!

ok - it's not a GILLIS valve - but GILLIS isn't a SVO Club of America Member Sponsor - Turbo Specialties is...so, I have one that's offered from Reed at Turbo Specialties. So - please consider the vendors who sponsor this club by giving SVOCA member discounts.

The next 3 pics will show where my boost valve is installed and where the hoses connect. By the way - this little piece of engineering is very high quality.
