  • Wastegate actuator ?

Can you run a vacum hose from the wastegate actuator to the vacum tree and have the actuator work properly?

.. nope... it actually works on pressure, not vacume I believe..

You can run the vacuum line from the tree.. BUT, you have to be aware that the wastegate will be seeing manifold pressure and NOT psi. directly from the turbo. There will be a psi difference between the turbo itself and the intake manifold. How much, I don`t know?

The reason why I'm asking is because the new turbo, I purchased, did not have the pre drilled hole in the compressor. So, now I'm trying to figure out how to run my wastegate actuator.

SVO-SMITTY, Yes, you can run your reference off of the vac tree and have the wastegate work properly. The only difference is that the boost pressure on the intake side of the intercooler is slightly higher than at the turbo, so you might see slightly higher boost pressures w/o changing anything else. If you are doing this I would also highly suggest getting a boost controller like a Gillis valve, so you can adjust your boost to where you want it. This is exactly what I am doing with my turbo upgrade.

Of course when you do this the factory BCS is rendered useless. The fuel switch can still be used to cut the timing advance 3deg like it always has, you just won't get the corresponding boost drop.
