  • Buzzy Engine

Is it normal for a 2.3 to get "buzzy" above 3k? I know it is not a quad cam multi-balance shaft motor but geez. For long trips I would rather drive my LX.

Might want to check your turbo studs. When I'd get a buzzy noise, I'd find that it was due to an exhaust leak where the turbo meets the manifold (the metal gasket adds to the noise).

yeah. mine sounded like a kazoo (sp?). it was the steel gasket between the turbo and manifold that was vibrating. hope it is an easy fix for ya!

You do want to check these fairly often, and make sure you use the good turbo nuts on them.

This is the same leake that nearly caught Rich Alvino's SVO on fire at the 2002 reunion.

No nearly about it, the insulation behind the firewall was burning.
