I believe that to be normal operation for first gear. I think the gear ratio setup in 1st is such that by the time you get to >3k rpm, you have enough torque and power, so there is no need to boost for power.

I'm assuming you are using the stock BCS. I think if you use a gillis styled boost control you will get some boost in first.

Maybe others here can shed a more technical explaination.....

by loud pedel what do you mean do you just mean stomp on it or what. because ive never really gotton on it in first gear because i never had made boost so i just figured i would just get the revs up for second and have all the fun there.

        Smoke em'

Or you can push in the clutch, put it in first, run it up to about 4 or 5 grand and dump the clutch... You'll get boost and some smoke from the rear tires if everything is working properly! Just be prepared to hit second gear real quick... Of course I'm not promoting reckless driving or anything like that.

......should be elboes & tennis shoes at least by 3.5-4K......1st is quick, so you can't slack on shiftin' to 2nd.........depending on engine condition.........

i wish i could go to the reunion but I cant. matbe next year.
And another thing i just put in premium gas for the first time and flipped the switch and now when (not all the time just a select few times) I start off there is a click sound that comes from the engine some where i dont know what it is and it should be anything with just the little bit of unleaded it had left because I bought a octane booster and put that in before I filled the tank. I am just a little confused thats all and it still makes a lot of boost when I get on it so nothing bad is with that so I have no clue.

I'm not sure what the clicking sound is at start off, it may be suspension/brake related noise, but the sound you want to avoid is like marbles shaken in a coffee can.

Normally, you will only hear it when the engine is under load and boost is building. It is called detonation and is a bad thing if you let it go on to long. A little rattle now and again shouldn't hurt. I normally hear it on mine if I'm in 5th gear, below 3000 rpm, and starting to go up a hill. I just down shift and there is no problems.

I read some where on a gas info site that 8:1 ratio engines like we have in the SVO need 92 octane for optimum performance. So keep that in mind when buying booster juice.

im pretty sure its not detonation . the only reason i bought the octane booster was to get the regular gas that was left in it to get up to the higher octane the I filled the rest of the tank with the 92 octane.
