Fuel Pump Resistor

I just replaced my stock transfer pump/pressure pump fuel system for a single in-tank Holley pump. I understand there is a resistor somewhere in the wiring for the stock pump that I need to remove to get 12 volts to the Holley. Does anyone know where this is???

As i remember -- it is the wire itself that is the resistor. I don't think there is a square block in-line that is the resistor.

The best thing to do, is to replace the ground wire running to the pump, and run it to a good ground on the body, instead of using the existing wire, or location.

You do need to get this thing replaced. I know TY said "that dag-um thing almost caut my car on far (fire)"

Lift the carpet in your hatch area. The harness for the fuel pump/sending unit comes through the floor on the right side.You'll have to take some of the tape off to find it but you will notice that the wire slightly changes shape when it turns into the resistor. What I did was just cut the wire right after it enters the passenger compartment and spliced (soldered)a new one on and attached it to a good ground. I guess you could do it under the car if it is easier.

I took the wrap off last night, but couldn't find a bulge in the wire. One wire had been spliced (pink on the harness side, black on the tank side). I wonder if someone already did this modification.

I believe from just doing the same project in October that the pink wire is the resistor wire. Really it's just a different (larger) gauge wire. You can cut it there and add enough wire to the black wire to ground it somewhere on the body. I did it right there nearby, I don't believe I even added any wire to the black one, just a connector, removed a screw nearby, grounded it.

Thinking about it last night, I kinda figured the pink wire must have been the resistor. Easy fix.
