  • Throttle Cable

Hey guys - I am having some occasions where the throttle hangs/sticks. A simple tap of the pedal restores the position. I figured its probably the pedal - I have cleaned and oiled the TB linkage. What can I do to fix this? Is there a way to get some oil or grease inside the cable or do I need to replace it?

    Thanks

It could be that the throttle body on the inside may be gummed up. Remove the intercooler, and shoot some cleaner specific for fuel injection systems into the throttle body, concentrating on the throttle shaft and it's junction with the throttle body. Also, you should check out the throttle shaft for play, as it could be worn out as well...

            Throttle Cable

If the TB is not the problem go to your local motorcycle store and get a cable luber. They are under $20 and are simple to use, you just attach it to where the cable exits the sheath and put the little red hose of your favorite lube on the luber and spray away. I would suggest either graphite or LPS 2, either one will last a go long time, longer than WD-40.

              Throttle cable

New Ford throttle cables are impossible to find. I did find an aftermarket cable that is a perfect replacement (except for the foam around the cable) at www.ExpressAutoParts.com. I think it was $12.00?

I was under the same impression that a replacement would be hard to find - however the local auto parts (O'Reily) got one to me the same day.

When I removed the old one - it was somewhat gummy. I could of put some lube on it and be done with it - but new is kinda nice also
