  • Oil Accumulator line to aftermarket turbo

Ok. As I get closer to buttoning things up i'm running into little problems. The oil accumulator over the valve cover has a tube that comes off of it and went to somewhere on the old turbo setup. The new turbo doesn't have the elbow on the front that the old one did. It's meant to run the air cleaner directly off the front of it. Any ideas what I can do with the oil accumulator line? I'm sure this has been 9300 times already by many if not all of you. Any ideas?

There's a place for a fitting on the front of the turbo. Not oil feed or drian. Is that where it would go? I didn't know if that was for vacuum to feed to the wastegate or something else. You'd think after 13 years of owning one of these I'd be more familiar with turbos.

Are you running a catch can, or the stock PCV system? We just ported the catch can into the valve cover.

Where's that fitting you mention in post #3? I'm not seeing it.

Add a short piece of tubing between the air filter and turbo inlet and tap into that? You definitely don't want that under pressure, so that's probably the direction I'd go.

Better yet, run a longer piece of tubing from the turbo inlet to the hole in the passenger inner fender and attach a filter there, outside of the engine compartment, so you can quit ingesting the hot underwood air into the engine. Insulate that tube so it doesn't get too hot, too.

How are you measuring the incoming air? Not seeing any sort of VAM or MAF.

The line you are referring to was coming off the port/cap on the rearward part of VC? that would be to the inlet side of the turbo (vacuum created). The boss you are referring to on the front of your turbo will have pressure on it. If you're looking to keep everything "stock"(ish) there are fittings you can pop into the silicone coupler you have going to the inlet of turbo. I have gone this route whilst re-assembling my 85.5, just to get it back to "stock(ish)" and undo some of the janky **** the p.o. did. Then I will look at doing a catch can/etc. That boss could be used for a boost control. The OE did use a port in that location. I'm guessing the port is not drilled through, or you haven't put a fitting in it yet??

-The one "TO VC" I used "Vibrant 2895 Vacuum Line Fitting" It uses a grommet and drill the tube (aluminum) and pop the nipple in. And some 10mm i.d. silicone line

-"To Boost CTRL" I planned on using "Vibrant 12890 Softmount vacuum Line Fitting kit", however the p.o. had placed a brass fitting in the coupler already, AND there was not enough space between turbo and IC for the larger flange on the new fitting, so I held onto it for a possible future use...

And please don't mind all the T-Clamps. It was all I had handy when I was putting inlet side back together... I have another inlet side setup for it (Vintage ForcedFour)

The fitting hole in the compressor housing should have a hose nipple that feeds your wastegate or boost control. That is where boost signal pressure comes from. The PCV hole in the valve cover should have a small catch can that trapped some oil vapors and a hose to the inlet side of the turbo on the stock setup to pull vapors out to burned in the combustion cycle.

That's what it was. The pressure side of the wastegate, but in my case boost controller. But the other posts answered the other part of what i needed which was the oil accumulator.
