    Back to the mass air...

I have the Modern Performance kit I bought several years ago from Nick M. on my '86. I don't think I have any troubles with it other than dinking with the air/fuel mixture pots. Anyone else out the have this same kit? I also tried a kit back in '96 from ETS - what a mistake!!! It used a bypass PCB for the processor with a chip that they kept having to re-program from CA. I basically couldn't drive my SVO for a year while messing with that one. Nick at Modern Performace help out though.

P.S. - I still have the loom installed to plug in the Vane meter just in case though!!!

      hey SVOJoe..

I have heard of a few people using the mass air to help with idle when they had larger (like 42's) injectors, and it worked ok for that.

Was there a performance increase from the swap?

      Just curious,

      thanks

        Performance Increase...

        SVOEric,

I do not have access to a dyno, but it does seem like throttle response is quicker (it may just be a expensive placebo). I did get comments at the track of my svo sounding like a jet when it past by the tower (if that's worth it - you be the judge). I do notice a dramatic increase though in 'whine' noise, and the sound from the bypass kit is quite loud. Makes it fun to spool it up next to some 5.0 to get him worried! ahhah. I had a vane meter go in my '84 svo, so I also did it on my '86 for reliability (hopefully).

I'll be honest...i just dont see the point of spending that kind of mulah for relatively nothing.

I mean there are a ton of people out there making 300+ ponies with a stock vane meter.

If the VAM goes bad, there are a ton of yards out there that have VAM sitting in Turbocoupes for 40-50 beans....and even Autozone gives you a lifetime warranty with the ones they sell.

I dont mean thi to sound like im pickin'......but I just dont get it.
