Driveway mechanics know that maintaining our cars requires old time wrenching experience and lots of readily available parts unique to the SVO. When these specific replacement parts are nowhere to be found, then adaptive use of what’s available is the fallback plan. This is one of those solutions that goes into the “It Worked for Me” parts bin. Hopefully this information and fix will help others in this predicament. All the writings and pictures document what was encountered on the way to this solution.

It all started out while doing some maintenance work around the intercooler that uncovered a wear area on the rubber heater core supply hose at the firewall. Apparently, the existing molded hose loop stuck out enough to have been coming into contact with the edge of the rear intercooler bracket. Any more driving around in the heat of summertime with this coolant hose was a situation primed to fail. So, the field fix was to remove the existing and replace it with a new piece of straight hose knowing it would kink but at least keep the cooling system intact and not prevent the flow of coolant to the turbo. This would buy enough time to get the correct replacement part or in this case, a replacement that would function correctly.
A few take-aways:
1. Online search of current mustang vendors and national brand auto supply companies could not find a specific listing for this hose
2."No “fix it “ video solutions to help guide a solution with the heater cores supply hoses unique bend required at the SVO’s intercooler
3. And there was not time to kick around the “what ifs” since the SVO was to make 2 car show appearances on Saturday. See other postings[
4. The readily available universal Dorman heater hose bypass kit 626-001 was the solution. The 5/8” hose’s molded bend and materials make a great solution. If the length on both sides were about
