Volvo may not be best!
Hi
The volvo has "plastic" side tanks and was designed for much lower boost values. Seemed to "blow out" in the heat at +20 PSI boost.
Where are you mounting?? (Are you gutting a condensor-or does this car not have A/C)
I have a 944 Turbo here you could borrow (for fab and use-while the race car has the Stroker 351 in it)
I still have the GTP car unit in AZ but that is worth $5000 to someone with one of the 4 cars.

hi Mark good to hear from ya been to Brighton many times... yes the AC is coming off and going into a plastic crate for good keeping...its looking more and more like if i want to run 25lb.+ of boost im prolly gonna have to step up to the plate and buy a purpose built IC that i can just install and forget about...lord knows im gonna have enough fun tuning all the components without worrying about a blowout or melt down... im not against even mounting an regal turbo intercooler between the motor and radiator... but a nice front mount would sure be slick...i know i prolly turn a lot of these svo owners off a bit buy concentrating on the hp#s only and just going straight line on a car thats built for auto-Xing but thats where the sceen is in Lansing and with 3 dragg strips to chose from in close proximity thats where im headed...thx for the offer Mark but the motor has to come out yet this winter and get rebuilt so im a ways off yet on needing to fab.. i apreciate it though...351 stroker sounds like a hoot got any times on it??... see ya man...Nate

You can't just look at intercooler quality by the flow numbers, you also need to look at how well it removes heat. Take a look at this thread below and read all of it:

Hearing that you need a colder charge...
Hearing that you need a colder charge on tap at the line-you may want to consider a Air to Water cooler.
There are enough out there that the price is comming down from a high $1300. Plus many have been sucessful "Closing off" a SVO unit. (I think there is one for sale now online) Mark Richard's runs one on his XR4TI with a bilge pump into the windshield washer pump that pumps at two different speeds. (one for circulation and one at WOT). This way it lessens the thermal barriers or "hot air" (read summer) and has a cooler charge at the line (in drag racing).
Mark
I ran one on my X180R -but living in Phoenix required a "ice chest" where the passager seat was. There have even been
"freon based" coolers-from early "turbo kits" (for Jaguars)! In that case the car was already a "pig" (heavy) so they put the compressor and condensor to use!
P.P.S. Running OVER 25PSI you may want to consider oringed/block and head copper gasket and stud it through out.
Come one down and look at one!!!!Mark

Nate,
I agree with you that drag racing is the thing to do in Lansing as opposed to autoX. I've had my SVO to Stanton on test and tune days and it always draws considerable interest; especially from the 5.0 crowd. Give me a pm if you'd like and we can get together this spring and go to the dragstrip.
