  • Cost for custom FMIC

So I added up what it cost me to do my FMIC...yikes

    Large NPR Intercooler $250 shipped
Mandrel bent Stainless steel pipes $120
Silicon intercooler hoses, various diameters $100
    Bosche Bypass Valve $45
Afco Ranger Aluminum Radiator $200 shipped
Custom Aluminum Bracket for Radiator + fabrication for BPV $240
Misc parts (hoses, clamps, nuts and bolts) from Kragen/Pep Boys/Autozone $200

    Total of $1155.00

Oh yeah, and 12.50 for band aids and asprin...and I dont even wanna know how much Guiness I drank!

Overall I think I'm satisifed with the install, still havent got to test it...I guess I'll have to do it next week at Willow.

That almost makes the 950 for the tiny avenger kit look real good.

Did you buy it before or after Spearco bought them...?

I could have sworn the price has jumped considerably

Hey Vince -- are you sure you should include the BPV on your cost -- that's not really part of the intercooler setup -- it's an additional upgrade

Only cost me a few hundred bucks to do mine...I guess it's all about how much you like SS, Aluminum, Silicon Hose, and T Clamps

I'm just pointing out that it can be done MUCH cheaper if need be.

                          Hmmm.. lets see here:

                          Audi 5000 IC = $80 from GT350R
mods to IC = free, fabbed by yours truely
IC piping = $40 from jy, various pieces (IC hoses incl)
Bosch BPV = $15 from jy
                          T'Bird SC rad = $35 from jy
Electric fan (taurus) = $30 from jy
brackets for above = free, fabbed by yours truely
Time spent to fab = ~3 weeks (couple hrs every night after work)

However I'm taking it in the shorts cause I've blown the IC mod once already, the SC rad is now leaking (core), and I just took delivery of an Afco unit (~$180) to replace it. Not to mention that the NPR IC is just flat out superior to just about any IC's out there (for cooling, press drop, installation ease).

We all go about things differently, thats the great thing about diversity.
