  • Fuel pump running

So this only seems to happen when my battery is low...

    Turn key on
Fuel pump start but then stops (normal)
    Start the car
    Car runs fine
    Turn car off
    Fuel pump continues to run
Take key out of ignition switch
    Fuel pump continues to run
    Disconnect battery
    Fuel pump shuts off
    Connect battery
    Fuel pump continues to run
    Disconnect battery
    Charge battery
    Connect battery
    Fuel pump does NOT run
    Car starts fine
    Turn off car
    No fuel pump running

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!
Hoping to get on the track soon

Um .. the blinker fluid? j/k

I had that happen on my old 91 5.0 - turned out to bet the relay under the driver's seat was sticking. Or so that's what I think it was as far I can remember .. it's been 10 freakin years ago.

Yep, had it happen to me as well. Get a new relay under the seat as Bud said.

Dont be alarmed when you go to get a new one, the new one will have 1-too many "prongs"...its ok, it will work.

best bet would be to get 2 as i have had bad ones straight from the parts store.

        Relay

        Hmmm...

Just put in my Cobra race seat. I dont remember there being a relay under there. Is it attached to something or maybe I just disconnected it?

Look under the carpet, sometimes they snake back down there. ANd be careful, they are frigile, and if they get knocked around, they are useless

It's bright green and black and not that small that you could miss it ... you might want to slow on the Killian's comsumption during wrench turning hours.
