  • What boost controller is this

I got this boost controller with my car when I bought it. Does anyone know who makes it? Is it any good? and what would it be worth? I think I have seen this same style on a few cars, but don't know anything about it.

    It actually looks homemade.

I have one of those under my work bench. Some guy with a Turbo Coupe gave it to me so I could make an adjustable regulator. It's worth about 2.50 at a local hardware store.

It's also a "bleeder" from what I can tell which has slower boost responce than a ball and spring style valve.

this looks like the bleeder style sold by the now defunct ETS. it did a pretty good job on my escort.

Yeah, there is no ball and spring in it. I got it with my car and was wondering if I should use it or just try and sell it to a friend of mine that just bought a talon.

That looks like the one I got with my Superchip years ago.

Well, I guess that explains why it was in the empty Superchips box with all extra parts I got with the car.

Why not just get a new wheel for it and installe it yourself? Cheaper and easier

There is some play in the shaft however it isn't touching the housing. I have no idea what wheel is on it or how to identify it. I would love to just change the wheel and save some cash. But I am also worried about the balance of the assembly once I change the wheel.

Well, you said turbo city ID'd the turbo for you right? If so then what did they tell you? They know what wheel it is.

Each part of the turbo is balanced individually and then assembled and checked for balance again to make sure it's dead on. I've never heard of any balance problems after installing a balanced wheel on a balanced assembly. It will be fine.

They did it 12 years ago. I just put it on 4 months ago. Their records don't go back that far but I guess I can take it off and measure it.
