I have found some great tips using the search function, but I need more ideals. My AMP light stays on and my altenator is not charging the battery. The last maintenance performed was a head gasket change. I have changed the altenator, voltage regulator, battery and starter relay (got tired of using a screwdriver to start it). I am starting to believe its a grounding or connection problem. I have gone over the connections and grounds with a test light and can't find any problems. Any specific areas I should look?

altenator is definately not charging, battery is new and checked the voltage regulator to ensure it was ground well. Before this problem I did accidently ground the positive lead against the altenator while I was tightening the distributor bolt down. Is there a fuse or link connected to the postive altenator terminal?Just another '84 9W.

Last weekend I found that my connector to the voltage regulator had some broken tabs inside that hold the wires in and 2 of the 4 wires weren't making good contact w/the spades on the regulator. There was also alot of dirt and grime in there.
Make sure that the connectors are clean and that the wires are snug in the connector.... mine pulled out very easily from the connector, but could be pushed onto the spades to make good contact.
