  • PE Computer

I just did the la3 comp swap in my 84. After pulling the comp out of the car I read what comp it had it was a PE with a remanufactured sticker on it. Why would this be nothing else is upgraded in the car? What should I do with this computer?

Did you notice a difference in power after the swap? If not, then you have a real PE and the swap wasn't necessary. What type of injectors were in the car before the swap?

You can purchase remanufactured EECs from AutoZone and others. It may have been rebuilt to the '84 setup by Cardone.

Did the car run good with the green tops in it and the old EEC (PE)? If so it may have been like GAboySVO said; it maybe a reman EEC for a 84' SVO. I'm thinking a PE in a car with green tops (30lbs) wouldn't run good unless it was a reman EEC for a 84' SVO.

              Just a thought

Now that the brown top injectors are in, instal the old (PE) computer and see if it runs rich. A rich condition should be easier to smell than a lean one.
If it runs fat with the old computer, than it ain't no PE

That's a good adea to swap comps again will I need to change the wires back to the original positions. The car did run good with the greens in it. The previous owner said she always took the vehicle to ford to have it worked on. So I wouldnt think it was from the zone.
What is the main diffrence of the two comps?

                    PE

Mike is right the aftermarket companies do place thier on P/N's on anything they reman. They also have been know to give the part a paint job to hide the Ford markings.

PS Mike: I know that when I changed the computer in my 84 form the stock one with green top injectors to the PE comp I could actually smell the differance. The 84 computer was obviously over fueling.
