  • O2 Sensor Part Number and Purchase

    Hey!

When I search the part number E6ZZ-9F472-A, found in this thread, I get a result that says it is Motorcraft part DY572. That part is listed as a 84-86 5.0 oxygen sensor. Is this the same sensor as needed for an 86 SVO?

I also found a Denso oxygen sensor, "Oxygen Sensor OE Type, C5010-100827" for $32 at a Web site called Autopartsworld. It claims to be for the Mustang SVO. I guess I would prefer the Motorcraft part. YearOne sells it for $48.

    Is the DY572 part correct?

    Thanks!

    O2 Sensor

Both the Ford part #E6ZZ-9F472-A and the Motorcraft part # DY572 are correct for the 1986 SVO (and probably the 1985.5). This sensor is a single wire sensor.
I think the 1984/85 SVO had a three wire O2 sensor which is a different part - I don't know the part # for the 84/85 O2 sensor.

Make sure that if you buy a O2 sensor from an aftermarket company that you bring the sensor with you and make sure the wiring harness/connector is the same.

Good results with Bosch O2 sensors!

The original O2 sensors were supplied to Ford by Bosch. Wen it came time to replace the three wiire O2 sensor in my 84 after over 200,000 miles, I went with a Bosch direct replacement sensor sold by Autozone. Passed smog with flying colors and no problems!

I've since used Bosch O2 sensors (also purchased at Autozone) on my Mark VII LSC and on some of my Mustang GT Turbos. I'm very happy with the quality of their products and recommend them highly!

        Bosch

I believe a Bosch was available in the same place that I saw the Denso sensor. Thank you for the recommendation and the clarifications!

        Thanks!
