When I bought this car it had a leaking cam seal, I have put two new ones in and it still leaks, the cam is a comp cams cam. I have put in a stock replacement seal, would this be the cause? I wouldnt think so but I am at a loss as to why this is happening. I checked the cam and the are no burs or any imperfections that I can see would cause this. I am hoping someone would have some suggestions on what I can do. Thanks in advance.

Are you certain that it is the cam seal. When you reinstalled the cam timing sprocket, did you use thread sealer on the bolt. Oil is forced under pressure through the cam and can leak from behind the bolt if sealant isn't used.Mike S

I didnt know that, I will check that out tomorow. I just assumed it was the cam seal since it was being slung from the shield behind the cam pulley. I guess I had forgotten waht the word assume means. Thanks for the tip.Jeff Mason

Yeah I had the same problem with my motor when I put it in this winter. I put thread sealer all over the bolt and that really slowed it down, however it turns out I also had a leak in the seal. The good news is they are fairly easy to change and inexpensive. Just be sure to oil it down and the cam before installing to ensure you do not damage the new one.
