  • Oil Feed Line to Turbo

My stock oil feed line to the turbo looks like it has a few spots where it's sort of flattened or slightly kinked. I want to get a new one - where's the best place? I've seen an aftermarket version on evilbay from Stinger Performance for about 45 bucks. Anybody use this or have any feedback? Suggestions?

    Thanks - JT

      Feedback - Motion Dynamics

After Mike made the recommended on the source for the oil feed line, I called and spoke to MD. Very helpful and great service!. I even treated myself to a few x-mas presents including a set of repro inner marker lights and new FoMoCo dew wipes (last ones in stock). Just thought you guys would like to know the feedback!

      Thanks Mike for the recommendation.

      Have a good holiday season!

Oh, so you are the one who got his last set of dew wipes. I called about them just yesterday. Well, I know they are going to be put on a nice car.

        Merry Christmas!

          Dew wipes

Thanks - I thought I had won a set on evil-bay a month or so ago, but was out-bid in the remaining seconds. I've been looking for a reasonably prices set since I bought my car (the rubber on mine is basically gone). So I finally broke down and bought this NOS set.

It would be nice if the aftermarket suppliers would make a set for 79-86. It kills me that you can buy a set for 87 and up dew wipes for about a third the price.....

            50resto?

Although not a vendor of ours but doesn't 50rest.com have them too? How much did you buy your dew wipes for anyway, just curious as i gotta get some soon along with door weatherstripping and door hinge bushings (door sag) and window glass run channel bushing (loose window), ugh! Does it ever end?

You know they (MD) also has a stainless steel braided oil feed line ready for install if you want to go that route.

My advice would be to stay away from the SS Braided line. I had one fail on me causing an oil fire.
Hoping to get on the track soon

I went with the stock oil feed line - it it's good enough from the factory, it's good enough for me!

As for the dew wipes (belt strips) they were in the $110 range each (actually one was more, one was less due to packaging - don't ask).

5.0resto doesn't carry the 79-86 style dew wipes. I checked there and with Mustangs Unlimited (which had a set earlier this summer, but I chinced out, hoping to find a set elsewhere). I even checked with Eric (Forced4) and some of the other parts vendors at the Reunion, no luck.

I'm going to see if I can't get a friend of my uncle who is an A&P mechanic to whip up a SS braided line for my oil feed. Aircraft use braided lines all over for fuel and oil feeds so I don't see what the difficulty would be using one on a car. Quite frankly the stock one, although funtctional, is a PITA when it comes to removing and reinstalling when doing any kind of work that requires it out of the way.

I think I cracked mine when trying to get one of the exhaust manifold bolts loose. I'm just going to cross my fingers that it will work okay when I try to start the car back up tomorrow or Tuesday night.

                      Just to clarify,

My braided line failed because the bolts that held the waste gate to the turbo came loose, the exhaust leak was directly on the oil line causing it to fail.

Ah...that makes better sense. I just thought it was a bit odd for SS lines to fail on these engines when they hold up quite well in many other applications.
