          hey that's my site :p

if anyone cares, I finished the work on the head and block this past weekend and between spending my money on restoring my newly acquired svo to "take her on a date in it" condition, I'll be putting the volvo engine together over the next month or so...I'm hoping to toss the long block in my 88 in mid april.

Kinda funny, but now that I am putting one together, i keep noticing more and more of them...very cool indeed.

But you need to do 2 things:
                1) Post up some pics ( other than the ones in the 4-sale section )
                2) Be at this year's reunion.

ive been following the head buildup for a while. i love the red valve cover. im happy to see that yours is so far along. once i get a second job again, im hoping to get a head for my svo and start working on it. what are you going to do for the intake?

I've got 4 of the volvo intakes to use (in case I goof up) and once I get the long block in the car with all the front accessories on it, I'm going to toss one on there and hack it off at the right length.

then I've got a nice piece of 4" diameter aluminum tube I'm going to toss on it and I've got a 5.0 upper that I'm going to whack the TB plate off of and attach to the front. I want to go straight to using one of the larger 5.0 TB's on this thing...I dont want to choke it anywhere....breathe baby breathe....

anyway, I pulled it all out of the trunk tonight and tossed it on my new engine stand. Tomorrow I start to file fit the rings and I'm going on summit.com here in a second to order my bearings. mmm.

edit: hmmm guess you cant have pics just pop up in here?? oh well, click the pic :P

Kenny -- no one that I know of said it wouldn't work -- only that it takes more work than someone is normally willing to do to make it work.

Eric, I agree. Wouldn't it be easier just to modify the motor mounts and use the whole volvo engine?:p

because the volvo engine is HUGE tall...that thing is a monster...that's why it's slanted in those engine bays for a reason hahaha....

actually...the work hasnt been all the detailed to be honest. Longest part has been that I've been having to wait a few times to visit home to do some machining, etc...that and I was splitting money between doing the volvo swap and restoring my 88...and now ALSO my 86 svo hehe.

If you dont include the price of the crower billets I got for the engine...the ENTIRE build so far is only at $1300

If you then knock off the price of the diamond pistons it's only at $900 (then you'd add $100 for the valve notching tool since you'd have to notch reliefs in the stock pistons).

Actually, if you notch the stock pistons you can probably knock off another $340 from the $900 tag as that was the block work I had done.

Then simply add another $300 for gaskets/bearings/welding to my intake manifold...and that's it. I'm done.

My total cost out the door is gonna be $2400 for the entire engine conversion/build. But it can be done as cheap as ~$960 if you cut certain corners like I've pointed out.

I've got a private COMPLETE cost list of all parts I've bought (wasted) thus far on this project I can post if you guys want me to.

But mainly I just wanted to do the project because I KNEW in my heart that it could be done cheaper than what was being spit out to people on the boards....if it doesn't blow up in my face I'm hoping a bunch of people will follow behind me...
