    wires

I put a set of msd on my 86 svo and have been using f
them for a while . It replaced the skip I had with the motorcraft wires. Maybe I just got lucky with a set of good wires, but I would buy another set if it became necessary. They are pricey at 50.00. Red color really looks good with my red valve cover. Ralph

I run Motorcraft factory wires. The first set didn't really go bad but #1 pretty much rubbed thru on the intercooler bracket. Still have the factory replacement set since like 1990 or so. My car does not see many miles so it cannot be age that kills them. It must be the heat and weather. I would hope wires would last 50k miles.

        PRO TENS!!!!!

I need to put a plug in for PRO TENS! (get it "plug" in)
I bought a set 10 years ago from Russ at Rapiedo (I think they were $129 in '92)

Anyway, These are the only wires I use on the race car! I have since bought another set (but from a Top Fuel team as they switiched to Moroso-for contingency money in the late 90's) They run 16 wires so I've been using the short ones..
I use them while driving and take off to sell. (ship with Motorsport)

Rich, I am just running the ones that the part store had, I too found out recently that KEM makes a few sets of wires for our cars. Being from a parts store I would guess them to be the entry level or mabey second from the bottom.

          As far as how long they have lasted;

They tested less resistant with 24,000 miles then the brand new just out of the box Motorcrafts.

I dont think they have a life time warrenty though....

As far as the Motorcrafts having a life time, you have to have bought them from a parts store and NOT a dealership. I have two recipts laying around and usually keep the exytra sets I find on parts cars. Hell I will even grab them off a car in the junkyard , just to take back with the recipt and get a new set.

I even keep one recipt in my 87 TC driver. As soon as it starts to stutter, I pull into the parts store and swap them in the parking lot.

Well, after much searching, I found someone who could get the 9mm ford motorsport ones... Southwest Ford
$38.13 shiped... I think that's less than I spent on my motorcraft.
They were really helpfull, and shipped them to me next day... just in time for our track event!

boots barely fit over the wires, but with much pushing, and lube, we got them on.
This fixed my high rpm miss. My car hit 100-110 at the end of the straight at Putnam Park. (with these unmarked guages, kinda hard to tell... more worried about braking for turn than top speed.
I ordered heat sleeving from Jegs, but I couldn't get it over the whole wire, and unfortunately, the boots you need to install are at the distibutor end, not the end where you need the heat shields!
Wire look great, though, and helped tremendously!
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!
