Check it either hot or cold. There are two marks on the filler cap/dipstick. The lower one is for cold full. The upper one is for hot full..

It can leak from just about anywhere. The front pump seal and the pump end of the high pressure hose are probably the most common. Other places it can leak are where the pressure and return lines screw into the rack, as well as the rack itself (usually through one of the boots at the end due to a leaky internal seal)

Best way to tell where it's leaking is to clean off everything thoroughly and then see where more fluid leaks out.

there should be a hot & cold line on your P/S dipstick. You should be able to check hot or cold.
i check when its running... "hot".

it could leak from a number of places...hose connection, seal...i think the most commen is the return line at the bottom of the p/s pump

Mine leaks from the cap, replaced the cap, still leaks. Found out that the resevouir ir cracked near the top an p/s fluid oozes out there so i put a mini bungee frmo the intake to the lower p/s pump bracket to hold the cap down TIGHT until i get a new pump with a serp belt pulley.
