  • Help! No fuel pressure - No pump noise

Just tried to start my car. It turns over, but there's no fuel pressure and I don't hear the pump running.

    Where do I start?

Walt just try cycling the key on off a few times and not turn the car over. then just turn it to on. See if the pump is priming. If not then it is time to drop the tank. That would figure wouldnt it? (I bet you still have the new pump in the box right?)

Check for burnt fuses, and the relay under the drivers seat. I would also check the relays next to the ECU. I had a ECC relay go out and it acted like the fuel pumps were without power.

      Good luck.

There is an inertia switch also. It is in the rear of the interior on the driver's side IIRC.

Because of my neighbor's tree removal, one way or another, I had to move the car. I tried the standard cycle on-off, on-off proceedure again and it worked.

Why is it doing this? Is it telling me it's time for a new pump/relay/fuse?

Btw - I sent the pump back to Jegs. I couldn't justify having $100.00 + laying around. Besides, It was for a 5 liter.

one of 2 things walt. The key (switch) is a known issue in our cars. or the pump is starting to act up.

BTW, Same pump thru 93' at least. Difference is in LPH.

But if it turns over, wouldn't that indicate that the switch is ok?

I knew that , but I thought that 255 LPH was overkill for a oem rating of 190LPH. Plus, $100.00 invested in a pump that's sitting in a box doesn't do much good if I'm not using it.

Yes but the switch could be flaking out.

I thought the stock pump is 90 lph? I have been wrong before.

I know that the pump for a 5.0L flows about 30% more than the one for the 2.3L. The Edelbrock SVO pump is rated at 41 GPH, so a rough conversion makes it about 190LPH. See -
