  • Flex-lite Black Magic Fan

I installed their 5.0 fan kit over the weekend. The general installation couldn't get much easier. The only issue I had was where to run the relay wire so the fan works only when the ignition is on. Is there any easily accessible spot under the hood where I can tap into?

The power wire for the coil might be a good place. It is the wire closest to the engine.

that fan is good but not that good for the 5.0's the best fan you waant to get is the fan off a 94-95 v6 or v8 mustang that one pulls the most air but it draws alot of juice

Ron, You might also want to think about putting in a switch to turn it on whenever you want. Just a thought.

I finally took a picture of the fan setup today. I still need to secure the wire loom and run a switch inside the car.

Here's a link to the kit on their website:

That's the same kit I put on my Pace Car (5.0). It's fine for just driving around but it was worthless as a performance part. Additionally, the temperature averaged about 10 degrees higher then it had with the factory Flex fan. With the Flex fan I never got over 180deg but with this electric fan it won't even come on until it goes over 180 and it takes longer to cool. I did recover some HP from the loss of the mechanical fan though.

I installed the same flexalite fan about three years ago and it works great! The only problem that I had was that I was chasing an overheating problem that didn't exist. The real problem was that the temperature gauge would show overheating for no reason. A $15 mechanical temperature gauge would have solved my problem.
