With enough Aluminum, GFRC, Lexan and speed holes you can get a Fox body into the <2500 lb weight class. She'd be a track terror if you can keep her running. Lima engines don't have a great record when it comes to hard open track use.
The BATFE should be a convenience store.

although you didnt state one way or the other-did this happen to be a comp car? the gentleman who bought my comp car needs the rear plastic covers over the wheel wells and back. some earlier owner cut them up for stereo speakers. if anybody has a set i know where you can sell them.
        thanks

There's been another thread recently regarding removing excess wiring. Search the forums and you'll probably find it.
Best bet would be start from scratch though. Like others said, 20+ year old wiring equals trouble.
If it ain't broke... Give me some time!

I'd say three trans-am and I believe three IMSA championships says the Lima can do just fine. Of course they were banned after that.

Of course few of us have the resources of Mr. Rousch.

I'm pretty sure you can get below 2500lbs without "Aluminum, GFRC, Lexan and speed holes".

                Shoot for lower.

I personally saw a GT V8 on the scales weighing 2600. Stripped with full roll cage. I'll call to verify but I'm pretty darn sure. I'll let you all know what mine comes out to sometime this summer.

Maybe gravity is a little higher out there.

My notch is under 2300 lbs. At one point we were down to 2083, with engine, but minus our tube steel bumpers, accusump, fire system and a couple of minor things. But I'm the Michaelangelo of sawzall.

The big weight is in the doors. We just have skins attached to the NASCAR bar style door bars.

I'll get a picture of the scales when we have it race ready.

sounds like a appropriot fate for rescued SVO, with some decent susspension and a 500+hp 2.3T a SVO will destroy just about any camaro you will find on the open track, it would run with the gt500s and zO6s i bet..

Heck, my former 80 4-cyl hatch scaled @ 2620 lbs, with a full 83 GT interior and 1/2 tank of fuel. That NA car clicked off 15.9's @ 84mph running an 84 SVO 5-sp and 3.27 gears. I know the earlier Fox's were lighter, but it is another example of how light you can go.

the notch is 300+ pounds lighter then the hatch ,out the gate .a

as many have stated , the 20+ yr old wire are prone for problems , keep only the eec wiring harness , wire the 3G alt , wire ign. kill switches . ect. all stand alone ,it will save you alot of work and repairs ,
