Air Conditioner / Wiring Question

Hi All, I'm in Louisville doing a project and drove the SVO down from Cleveland, OH because it has the lowest miles of any of our 5 cars except the Hybrid Escape which is the onlyone that holds both our dogs! Anyway, on the way to Louisville I passed 140,000 miles! And now the air conditioner won't come on. The connector on the compressor was always problematic as it keeps coming off, but it seems to be on there. I don't have my manuals with me, or any tools, but is there a circuit breaker or fuse I can check/replace to see if that's the problem? If not, any recommendations on electrical repair shops in the Louisville area would be greatly appreciated.

Does the radiator fan come on when you have the AC on?

Most likely the fan relay has crapped out on you. It is the black box under the dash just above your left knee. Try tapping it with a screwdriver handle to see if the relay will kick in.

If your AC condensor caught a rock on the way down, then the pressure switch on the dryer as disabled the AC. You could try jumping it to see if the compressor comes on. If it does, then you are out of freon and need to take it to an AC shop.

You probably lost all your feon. The compressor won't come on if there isn't enough pressure in the system to trip the switch.

Hey Guys, Just checked and the fan isn't coming on....trying to get it to warm up to see if it comes on when the engine gets hot but haven't been able to get engine hot! I'll check that relay under the dash tomorrow in the light!
