Not to rain on anyone's parade here, but I would strongly recommend NOT using cast pistons.

Stick with the forged units and you will be happier and save money in the long run.

Don't give in to the dark (cheap) side.

Use only forged pistons on an SVO rebuild.

May the turbo be with you.

Does TRW still produce a forged 2.3li piston? You might want to look into a set for your rebuild.

There is no more TRW so far as a piston manufacturer as we knew them in years past. They are Speed Pro now, and prices have soared lately.

Getting a cast piston is just like asking to have your money flushed down the toilet. You will have to pay for everything all over again *if* you don't destroy other expensive items in the process. If you do further damage it will cost more.

I'll forward this link to my favorite parts guy and let's see what he has to say.

A guy on TF does group deals once in a while.

Still waiting for my favorite parts guy to answer here. He's some red SVO owner and deer killer from Indiana who is doing a cylinder head for NAVYsvo.

Out of curiosity today I put a call in to Norther Auto Parts about the rebuild kit they sell. The pistons are the H559P's which are cast.

I think I'd prefer to deal with Dragpak and just pick things up at the Reunion. After all, he is my most favorite parts guy. Some of you have already stumbled upon him as a secret weapon. Dragpak is DA BOMB!
