Allright, Ive done a lot of research so, I thought. I found quite a few topics, here about this.
So I thought I would go ahead, and do it. I went to the local junkyard to pickup a used 3g alternator. The one I picked up was from a 94 Ford F-150 pickup. I got all the wires, I needed for the install.
And this morining trying to bolt it up, it wont fit. Now I know the bracket is suppose to need trimming, but this doesn't even come close to the bracket. ?And I have one end installed where the long bolt slides through, but the other end wont reach the other bracket to bolt up. The bracket Im talking about is the one where the stock alternator is adjusted to adjust the belts tension.
Do I have a wrong alternator? I found a list of different vehicles, in which would work, (For instance off the T-bird site) This one was suppose to be one of them. It doesn't even say how many amps it is.
Im not so sure I can just return that used alternator back. Becuase it was ordered from another savage yard.
Im thinking of going to the local napa, around the corner and ordering one. (Expensive) But not so sure that if they have to order one for me, that that will fit.
Am I doing something wrong? Wrong alternator possibily? What vechiel should I order a 130 amp altenator for to get the right one?
Thanks
