  • Radiator hose recommendations?

What are good brands for radiator hoses for the stock set-up cooling system? I had a radiator problem so I ‘m going to do a couple other things before installing it. The hoses I’m replacing are NAPA brand, #8048 upper, unknown lower but I'm assuming it's also NAPA due to clamp type. I bought Goodyear hoses, #61032 upper, #61034 lower. I have been using Goodyear hoses for as long as I can remember, but the NAPA hoses seem to be better molded. I don’t have the radiator in yet but just looking at the hoses it appears that the lower GY hose will be closer to the crank pulley due to shorter section going up to the water pump. The drop coming out of the radiator goes lower than needed too. The Upper looks like it was built to go around a large fan shroud. The old NAPA upper hose again looked like a better fit. It appears that both the GY's will need to be slightly twisted to fit which doesn't seem right. Are there some better fitting GY’s or should I just go to NAPA.

I got the GY's at my Motorcraft dealer. He said he couldn't find them at any of their stores. I didn't try Ford because they have never been able to help me with parts.

Here's the page with the Ford part #'s you need. Items #45 & 46.

You should still be able to find them at Ford. The Ford hoses fit very well.

Just called The local Ford dealership. Upper hose part, # E8SZ-8260-E, is obsolete. The lower hose, part # E8SZ-8286-A, doesn't show up on their system. I'd like to get the SVO back on the road this weekend, so I don't have time for mail order.

WOW their just radiator hoses. i got replacements from pep boys for like 12.00 a piece.
Fit fine and heck i even cut mine to accomodate my Rad being closer to the engine due to my IC.

                Is there truely a difference?

I can not find a upper radiator hose that fits like the stock hose.
i ordered a Gates 21347 it will not fit, went to O'Reilly, they had a upper hose in stock, but still looks like Gates hose, it was GY.
                  no problem on lower hose.

I'm using Dayco 71555 and it fits pretty close to original. It doesn't have extra curves that at least Gates and GY has for clearing radiator fan shroud on older carb 2,3s (huge one...) or different belt routing. It probably fits but looks bit funny.

Lauri beat me to it...the Dayco 71555 is what I am running as well. It was a virtual perfect match to my OEM hose. For the lower hose I have a Dayco 70962, which doesn't come with the internal spring like the OEM hose did. Apparently the 'new' hose materials no longer require the hose to prevent collapse. I have had mine in for 2 seasons now, including several auto-x and track days w/o any issues. Both were purchased from Rock Auto, FWIW.
