I went to the ford dealer today and they said that the valve stem seals are now discontinued (E7ZZ-6571-A/B). I know that Forced4 still has um but I was looking to get some right away, so does anyone know of a good aftermaket set?

Valve Stem Seals Discontinued

The last ones I got came from Forced4, and they came in quickly. I don't remember where I got this list but Here are some other alternatives:
Valve stem seals
1. Felpro SS 70037 - Viton set of four intake and four exhaust - 1977 to 1988 122, 140, 153 cid FORD. Most posts report these work well. About 10$
2. Felpro - set of 4; 70817B Blue with thick metal lower band for intake. 70373 Black with thin metal lower band for exhaust
(do not use ! too tall)
3.Felpro SS 72683 - 87 & 88 turbo Viton metal cap set of eight. However, these are marked for exhaust on the box. Felpro does not have a different part number for Metal cap intake seals. These seem to be the most commonly used seals for both intake and exhaust. All postings seem to be very positive and my 2.5l works fine with these on both in/ex valves. About 15$
3. FORD - E7ZZ-6571-A - Set of four intake seals, the rubber is brown and there is a white stripe around the metal cap. And a very small "in" molded into the top of the seal.
E7ZZ-6571-B - Set of four exhaust seals, the rubber is black and a very small "ex" molded into the top of the seal.
I measured every dimension of the Ford seals. The only difference I can find is the ID for where the seal fits the valve. All of the brown rubber intake seals are about .008" small. This makes sense that Ford wants the intake to be a tighter fit. These very much like the Felpro Metal cap seals except there is a different Intake seal. About 28$ over the counter.
4. Manley Teflon - 24035-16 - set of sixteen. Seems these can be used without cutting the guide in anyway. I have not used them, but I have seen some posts that folks said they work fine but might actually be too tight and cut off all oil for street use. I have fitted one on a spare stock head with no issues. About 24$ for a set of 16.
The lastest ford seals seem the best......

I went there and asked him to order some for a 88 TC and he said they were discontinued. Then I went home and looked up the number and called back w/ that and he said those were the ones he said were discontinued before.Originally posted by NY eric View PostDiscontinued or drop ship from MFG? I will call my hook up and post up tomorow. If not then the 5 sets I have here are going to be a colectors Item.Originally posted by Wizard191 View PostI went there and asked him to order some for a 88 TC and he said they were discontinued. I've found that going to Ford for SVO parts is pretty much a waste of time and effort. It's getting harder to get Motorcraft parts for our cars too. I wouldn't be surprised if before long the best alternative we will have for parts is AC/Delco.Last edited by Morganized; 04-12-2007, 08:25 PM.Closed course, professional drivers.

It largely depends on what the part is. Keep in mind that many drivetrain and suspension parts (small parts anyway) went virtually unchanged from 1979 to 2004. Things like seals, bearings, some bushings, spring isolators, etc., can still be found easily from the local parts department.Originally posted by Morganized View PostI've found that going to Ford for SVO parts is pretty much a waste of time and effort. I'm a little confused here. I got the SS 70037 box, but it has the 70817B intakes and 70373 exhausts. How can the SS 70037 set work if it has the incompatible part numbers?Originally posted by Raven855 View Post1.
