I hope to install my new Moser axles soon. However, I am having a problem finding axle bearings and axle seals for the 86. Auto Zone and Advance Auto Parts do not carry them. Does anyone have a part number for the SVO 7.5" axle bearing and seal? Or a suitable substitute.
I'm not sure if the 7.5 from Moser uses the same as the 9" style.. But I can tell you that the 9" axles use a SPECIAL bearing that you can only get from Moser.. My Buddy has been through 4 bearings in the last 2 years.. The Moser bearings don't handle the load of the street driving.. Not that he is hard on his car.. I think that he has put about 1000 miles on it over the last 2 years, because of the bearings.. If they use the same style bearing, then I would be very leary of using them.. They use a ball bearing style axle bearing instead of the roller bearing like the factory used for the 9".. But I'm not sure if the 7.5/8.8 uses the same style..

As always, any help is appreciated,
Brian
The 7.5" and 8.8" housings all use the same axle bearings and seals from '79-'98. The SVO was nothing special as far as that goes.
Of course the 8.8" didn't exist until the '86 model year.
Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help!! I was kind of surprised that AutoZone & Advance Auto Parts did not carry them for the SVO.
So that I am sure. I can use an axle bearing & axle seal from mustang years 1979-1998. Just go into Auto Zone and tell them I need axle bearing and axle seals for a plain ole 86 Mustang GT. Not trying to be redundant, just want to be sure.
The Ford pt# for the bearing is E5SZ-1225-A.. The seal is C5AZ-1190-A
$23 for the bearing & $9 for the seal..

Cost on that seal is about half that. If you haggle with the counter man a little bit you should be able to get one for a little over $5 each. I greatly prefer the Motorcraft seals over the generic parts store ones because of the flange and tight fit. The Motorcraft ones seal up much better!
