so what about no compression in cylinder number 4 could that be a headgasket, a bad valve or a broken piston or any of the 3. The owner said her daughter was driving it and it started running funny so they parked it.

You're at the point now where turning a wrench is the only way to get a real answer. You're not looking at a lot of money if you're clever and have a junkyard nearby.
The BATFE should be a convenience store.

You can sink as much money as your credit limit will allow. Most the time you don't have to spend too much to get a solid running engine with 220hp +. You can get all the info here, but the best way to get all the ideas and info on these cars is to attend the reunion. You'll see "Mild to Wild," & "Rich Man, Poor Man." These cars can be Sleepers until they Wake Up & come Alive. Those SVO's with AL. tags have alot of phonys!

As long as when you say "left", you mean from the vantage point of looking out the windshield and not looking at the car from the front. If that's the case, do as Mike suggests.

I'm backing Mike on this. Left is always Left and Right is always Right. We're not looking for a left marker light. We don't drive on the right side of the car. Well postmen do. I've always use 'driver side' and 'passager side'. Except when talking about GT40s.
Passager side marker light goes for $500+.

Again I think it's a burnt valve. Number 4 goes first.

$20.00 down on burnt exhaust valve.

I paid $600 for the last Passenger side marker I bought.

If he has only one low cylinder down, your bet maybe valid, if he has two cylinders low on compression, I'll take that bet.

Ok I went and looked at it this morning. It actually has a few problems. The drivers side headlight is broken to hell. Both inner lights are chipped. The number 2 cylinder has absolutely no compression whatsoever, it needs a new steering wheel and shifter recovered, and the owner spray painted it with a rattle can. Good new is though the body has no rust at all. It spent its life in nevada. It has power windows, power locks, and a/c no sunroof, and the original seats are worn out. It has a rebuilt turbo, new radiator, new exhaust, and the interior is really clean, as well is under the hood. It has 97,000 miles on it. Does 1500 sound like a good deal. And also it needs new tires, the old ones are worn out. He said all the other 3 cylinders had good compression but number 2 had none? What do you guys think?

For a complete machine shop rebuild, hot dip, surfacing, replacing rings and bearings, a valve job with new seals, new freeze plugs, etc. will run you in ~$1,000 to $2,000 depending on what needs to be replaced. Here is what it cost me recently. The item in blue were extras thatnweren't necessary for a stock rebuild.

How quickly those little items add up.

Did you do the work yourself or use someone local? If local, who did you use?

Never mind....Goza.....great people to work with...
