  • Royal Purple - Max ATF or Syncromax?

Guys I'm starting to get Fergie (the 2R) ready for our first track day. In searching it seems as if most of you are using Mobil 1 products, but I want to try out Royal Purple.

For the trans should I go with the Max ATF or the Syncromax? I was gonna go with the Syncromax only because my brother said it was pretty good in his TC.

    Thanks for the input...

Ive used the Syncromax.... The ATF is automatic tranny fluid, not really sure that you can use that in a manual tranny....

The manual for my SVO lists ATF as the correct fluid type.. That is what I put back in mine..

Ryan, I put new Mobil 1 synthetic ATF fluid in the 2R right before you bought it. - in case you wanted to know. Don't think you would want to empty that just to put in new stuff. It wasn't cheap!

I second the Mobil 1, the stuff made a day/night difference. Way cheaper than the Red Line we use in the race cars.

Thanks Ed...I figured since you put a new clutch in it, new fluid went in it. That's something I can return!
I am getting ready to pop her cherry so I'm going through her. :-)

Synchromax is a thicker viscosity than ATF. It will work and it would be good for a high mileage trans, but will cause stiffer shifting when cold.

I use Red Line D4 ATF. It's highly recomended for the T5 trans.

i have Synchromax in mine as well as having it in my old 86 and 89 GT, made a WORLD of difference on the strip in the 89 and smoothed out the SVO's greatly
