SVONick and Alex L had them on their cars at the reunion. Nick posted some good numbers on the Dyno and was fast at the autoX. AlexL was still breaking in his motor, You could actually see his car smoking less and less as he got more runs at the AutoX

yea, till i got sick of reconnecting the VAM each time it blew apart.

mine is a HC351Y, which is essentially a later model HY35. The HX has the split scroll turbine, which when mated to a dual plane exhaust manifold, gets you a bit better boost response. The HY is a single scroll, which flows a bit better.

Its all a bunch a hand waving IMO, as im making 10psi (limited during break-in) by 3200, with the boost gauge quickly charging to the right when the waste gate opens. My butt dyno says im making at least as much power at 10psi on the HC as i was spinning the stock t3 up to 15psi. As long as you're sitting over the 3k rpm boost threshold, lag is not bad. After you hit about 14psi, all hell breaks loose as your boost gauge will make a mad sprint to the right. (quickly finding ANY weak points in your charge air piping)

If you want to throw the money into a dual plane, get an HX, otherwise get a HY and an single plane. Call up charlie at evergreen turbo, he has rebuilt holsets for a good price if you're looking for a unit and he know his stuff.

install is not too hard, requires quite a bit of fabrication for the downpipe, wastegate actuator (stock unit is set for 25+psi) and oil drain. I would HIGHLY suggest going to a FMIC and 3" exhaust if you have not already, as the stock systems are just not up to the task. 35# injectors are good up to ~300hp, anything above that and go standalone, preferably with a crank trigger and REALLY big injectors. 80#+ is not unheard of for this application.

I am running a hy35w off auto dodge cummins, hy has lowest A.R. exhaust and single scroll.Unless you plan to run split header for twin scroll this unit will spool faster.
2.3 guys are seeing turbine being a restriction at 420-450 whp on hy. The hy can be spotted easiest by its forward facing compressor outlet.
I have lots of info on these turbos if you have more questions let me know.
Last thing the hy series has almost no upgrades available,go to hx series of stick cummins if you want possiblity of growth ( hx35/40 hybrid 550+ hp)

Beanman over at Turboford is running a Holset but not sure if it is an HX or HY. He is pushing just over 400hp at the wheels on a stock bottom end and stock size valves. He does have MAF though and running E85.
