  • Valve cover gasket??

I am finishing my head swap and went to put on my valvecover but when I went to put it on the rubber felpro valvecover gasket is too thick and won't let the valve cover sit on the head. anyone else have this problem? And what gasket have you guys used?

I use the gasket from Ford that is reinforced with metal.

IDK what it was but the rubber was too thick. I went and got a new one from napa and it fit perfectly so idk what was with the one gasket?

If it was the blue rubber Felpro gasket, I've never encountered one that was too thick. Sometimes it can be a bit akward to install. Are you using the stock valve cover bolts?

I usually place it on the head, in position, without sealer. Then I place the valve cover down on top of it, again without sealer.

You have to be careful working the valve cover down in the front, so it doesn't fold inward or bulge out on top around the opening for the cam. I like to get everything positioned and all of the bolts started and then work it gradually down all around, keeping things even as I tighten the bolts a bit at a time.
