  • Loose/Hanging Gas Pedal

    Hey, guys.

Well, finally got the radiator fan functioning. In scouring the car for the cause of that, though, my uncle mentioned that the gas pedal was hanging pretty low, which I confirmed (knew it felt funny when I was practicing!).

It's pretty low in comparison to the brake pedal and makes accelarating a bit difficult, especially in the heavy boots I usually wear. Anyone know of a fix for this? I assume it's just a condition of an older car. I checked my '98 Trans Am, just 'cause I was curious now, and it seems to be hanging a bit as well.

Anyway, any advice for the SVO's pedal is appreciated. Thanks, guys!

EDIT: And yeah, I did try searching but didn't come up with anything. If there is already an existing thread, that'll work, too.

Lol, well, the boots are of the Skechers variety, so they aren't TOO big. The issue presents itself when I have to push pas the brake pedal to get decent response.

Anyway, Mike, do you have any pics of where I should be looking in the car to check for a loose cable? I couldn't really see any clues last night, but we were getting ready to wrap it up, so I didn't look very hard.

the SVO's brake and gas pedals are closer together than other mustangs. Are you sure you just aren't hitting it ?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure, Eric. It's cumbersome, but not impossible. Something I'll get used to, though, I'm sure.

I just noticed the pedal hangs a bit lower than it should. I was just curious if there was a fix and what it might entail.

As a general update, I actually drove the car on the road in open traffic, which was fun, despite a couple of (possibly) minor issues. The engine seems to be backfiring when I get on it and I think I have a coolant hose leaking somewhere.

I drove to Checker to replace some coolant I lost while testing the car's cooling system previously, and after pouring for a while, I heard liquid hitting the ground under the car. Hope it's a hose...
