more fuel up top, because larger injectors go with the LA3, than with the 84-85 computers.
probably not really any measureable difference in fuel distribution up under normal driving conditions.

I've done the swap on one of my cars. I wouldn't swap in a LA3 for A PE, but on 84-85 cars, it's a nice upgrade

The PE that comes with it is fine but if you wanted to upgrade you could go with an LA3. Unless you plan on going in depth with modding parameters and tinkering with the various different functions the LA3 has your PE will work just fine.

I've got all the stuff together to do a MAF swap on mine. When I bought it the previous owner had already swapped in a PE. I figure I'll do the MAF swap and tune it with the PE. Why spend the extra cash for an LA3 when the PE is pretty capable already.

You can easily make the same changes using the same tuning equipment to the LA down the road if you decide you need the extra features. Once you understand how the process works you could just copy your tuned MAF values into an LA3 MAF bin and go. The bins are different but the tuning process is the same and there is plenty of support here and on TF to get you going.

If I could do it over again. I would go with a f.a.s.t system. or something like that. You can just do so much more in less time ""if you don't know much about it"" Now with that said I spent many hours and days getting help on my maf to run like I wanted it to. Petty happy now but I hated it for a while.
