  • Running 93 in the svo.

Does running 93 in the SVO cause pinging or detonation? Also how does the fuel switch work and what exactly does it do to adjust to the different octanes?

premium is tuned for 91, so 93 is fine. im not sure if the eec will advance timing beyond its map or not, thus taking advantage of the slower burn of 93.

So basically, if your state has 93 octane, there's no benefit to running it versus the 91 octane gas? That's good news for me if this is true!

I've never been able to get 91 to run without pinging...
I run 93, and have ocasional problems because of a bad batch.

yea, guess i should have prefixed my statement with 'IIRC' and postfixed it with 'and now im sitting with a blown something in my head'.

if your KS is working properly, and you're running stock boost, 91 should be golden, not best, but OK. no KS, stick to 93 and sleep well at night.

Only ~90% of the CA 91 blend is gasoline.

If you put the fuel switch in unleaded mode you can run 87 OCtane. If you are going to put i in the premium mode, 93 octane and up is best. You can detune your engine to run with 91 by retarding the timing to 6 or 8* BTDC.
