I've been searching for the really bad idle problem both on the boards and under the hood.
It idles at around 900 RPM, well for the most part until it misses and drops 100 RPM and then over corrects to 1000 rpm, then back to 900.
I tried to do a KOEO to pull codes with then engine at operating temp and I *think* the codes were 57 and 67. I used a test light and wasn't really sure what I was reading with all the single blips of the light.
I've checked over all the vacuum lines that I know of and they seem fine. Tried some WD-40 on them also.
The TPS is set at .94 and it is smooth and goes up to 4.6 or .7.
Checked all the wiring and everything is connected, no loose wires. Moved them while it was running...no difference.
I just had a lot of the engine apart to replace the valve cover gasket. Cleaned everything I touched as everything was covered with oil.
I found a wire busted on the TFI so I replace the connector and redid the wiring for about 1.5 feet up as this wiring was in bad shape. I also found that the EGR tube wasn't screw into the TB so I'm sure this was leaking before. I think there may be a problem with it (previous owner...)
Car fires in a heart beat and runs pretty good when you have your foot in it, when you come to a light it drops RPMs a little too much but it recovers.
Not sure where to go from here, was considering doing a KOER test, but with my success of the KOEO test I don't think it will go well. I need to find a better way to read codes...maybe an LED.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks,
Jim
