on the bracket only one of the 2 top holes are snapped off. Should io replace it or just use it as it is?

edit: was just on forced4 and saw a message about shipping being delayed between june 19 and july 5th. Does that mean what i order won't be shipped til the 5thish

ok finally separated the turbo and manifold. I know that everyone says to replace the manifold studs so i am wondering where i can find the correct studs. would autozone or advance auto have them? I know they need to be locking. I saw a lot of talk about getting them from cummins but i don't know if i have a dealer local to me and i would really like to work on it this weekend and i doubt they would be open after work.
        Thanks

Send him an Email to verify. Those dates coincide with fiscal year inventory that shuts down shipments for those times every year. I'm thinking that may be the issue.

tonight i tired to remove the studs but have had no luck so far. Any good tips? Also i was reading and saw that where is normally no head to manifold gasket. I got one a year or so ago with out knowing this. Would it be a good idea to put one one or just leave it without?
            Thanks

leave without it, or use copper if you have sealing problems. about 10k miles of boost pressure, and that silvery gasket they give you will come off in pieces.

so now in the putting back stage. Before i do this is there anything i should check on the turbo? Should i also tap and die all the bolts and holes?

was just looking at the where the manifold and the turbo meet and the manifold is not at all smooth there. It looks like the old gasket is stuck there. I could post a picture if someone would like. Any suggestions?

Post up a pic of what you got. Is the turbo completely out of the car? If yes then a wire brush or wheel to clean the 2 surfaces and maybe a puty knife as well. I had the same problem with old pieces of gasket really stuck on both surfaces and used the puty knife and small files to get in and clean it up. I also used some sand paper to smooth it all out after the filing and knifing.

Or if you have air tools. The 3" roto-loc discs work great! Use the med or soft ones!

Unfortunately I don't have access to mill right now. What would be the next best option

what is te torque spec for the exhaust manifold? it says like 28 ft*lbs but that seems really low for not having a gasket. what do people usually torque to?
