Motion Dynamics 3" down pipe has serious issues

    I was having similar issues of the flapper seizing with my ATR down pipe.

    I was wondering if the steel flapper shaft in the steel housing (steel on steel) might be the problem and if a bronze bushing would help.

      Jim said that it doesn't happen often to the factory one because it's steel through cast iron. The MD pipe is steel on steel causing a material issue. he thinks that the shaft needs to be replaced with a stainless shaft. I'll take him up on it when it locks up again.

        The only reason I thought of bronze was its self lubricating properties that make it a good choice valve guides.
