My 86 is almost road ready, the only remaining items keeping me from driving it is the exhaust. I don't want to spend a lot on it now but need to do something. What are my options for a cheap exhaust? I have the factory down pipe with CAT but need everything else. Can I go with a single exhaust to save some money compared to the 86 dual exhaust? Will the single exhaust hook up correctly to my front down/cat pipe?
The spare exhaust I have is from my old 91 5.0 LX, it's a almost new MAC 3" cat back exhaust system. I could bolt that on but then I would need a custom "Y pipe" to connect the factory CAT pipe to the MAC cat back system. Will it run and sound ok or is the MAC system only meant for a 5.0? I was thinking of ordering the Stinger 3 inch "Y pipe" but it seems pretty expensive for such a simple pipe, he must be making a lot of profit on each one he sells. I might be able to bolt the MAC system on and then trailer my car to an exhaust shop and have a Y-pipe made custom, I'm just not sure of the cost.
